Just wanted to give you a peek into what I’m working on now for Modern Yardage. Well, ONE of the things that I’m working on now, hehe! This collection is called “Folky-Dokey”. Below are the colorways for the main pattern, “Boho”. I usually make the first pattern in each collection fairly complex, then I’ll take bits and pieces of it and design the companion patterns that coordinate with the main one. These will be available in 3 sizes. I fiddled with this group for a long time, mainly because of the number of colors. I’m working on the rest of the collection right now.
This collection is based on the Polish paper cutting art, wycinanki. I’m kind of fascinated with it! I am half Polish and half Czech, and I love researching my roots. I originally designed this for a final project for a fabulous class that I took at The Rhode Island School of Design, with Anne Marie Byrd. I learned so many great tips and tricks for designing patterns in Photoshop and Illustrator from her!
Which colorway do you like the best?
