I was looking for a file on my computer yesterday, and as I clicked through all of my design folders, I came across a pattern that I had made last year. Not JUST a pattern, but it was my first successful digital repeat pattern. I was curious, and clicked on the date of the file. May 22, 2012!! A year ago. Although I still love this design, I’ve come a very long way in a year.

bohocarnival-black and white

If it looks good in black and white, it’s good to go.

bohocarnival-purpleI figured out how to make the outlines white and background purple! YAY!

bohocarnival-yellowLook! Multi-color!

bohocarnival-bluejpgI finally figured out how to get the shapes colored in with a colored background. Progress!!

bohocarnival-collectionThis was the final collection (using this pattern) that I did for an online course, The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design. I was beyond excited at what I had accomplished! I still love it, and absolutely love these colors. It’s very Dr. Seuss-y, right?

I’m so excited that a year ago I decided to change my career path. Based on what I’ve achieved in this time period, I know that I’ve made the right decision.
