Have you checked out the new issue of MOYO magazine? MOYO is an online publication that celebrates design in every form. It comes out quarterly, and it’s jam packed with interviews, gorgeous designs, and so much more. And…in this issue I’m in it….three times! To read MOYO magazine, click HERE. It’s in issue 7. Here is some of the work that I did for one of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design courses and a little interview about me. […]

This week’s project for Make Art That Sells was for “party paper”. Paper plates, napkins, cups, stuff for parties. This was my fave project too. The theme was “flora”. I decided to aim for a folky feel (but of course!). I ended up using a combination of some older and newer floral sketches. I started with the most complicated piece, the plate. Then I went a bit crazy on the napkin. I just couldn’t help myself, haha! I […]

A few years ago I entered a contest for a scarf design. The theme was “Skulls”. I’m really not into skulls and any kind of “dark” theme, but I always have loved those Sugar Skulls from the Mexican Dia de los Muertos tradition. I ended up being one of the winners! Yay! But…I had to give up the rights to my design. Boo! But the prize money was pretty decent. I’ve been wanting to do a series of these for […]

I’ve had an (empty) Etsy store for over a year, and I’ve been working really hard to come up with some ideas to stock it. Lots of my friends sell digital scrapbooking papers, but I didn’t want to go that route. So instead, I’m starting out by selling some prints. I’ve been making these Polish folk flowers, also called wycinanki, for quite a while. I’ve built up a large image library of them. Of course, I started with an “M”. […]
I live in a city. And I really like it! Although I do miss having my own yard, our building has set up an area for us to garden. This is my third year participating. It’s on top of the roof of the parking garage. This is my little garden plot! It’s about a 6 x 6 foot square raised bed. This year I’m growing a few different types of heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, lots of herbs, and flowers. My absolute […]
Mary, Mary, quite contrary, How Does Your Garden Grow? That’s the title for my newest fabric collection for Modern Yardage. And I am so excited by this one! This is how the idea for this collection came about. I LOVE Pinterest. Do you? I used to rip up magazine and catalogs for inspiration, but I hated to create folders and files for all of the clippings and organize them…only to have my kitties knock them on the floor. One day […]
