The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi have begun. Did you see the opening ceremonies last weekend? I skipped the part where the athletes walk in, but I’m so glad that I caught the main show.


Those “Onion Domes”…how I love those shapes! The colors! I thought they did a fabulous job with the visual effects.

So…I’ve been working on a new series of patterns and designs based on the Polish papercutting art called “Wycinanki”.  I’m half Polish, so I find this whole art form pretty neato and very meaningful. And all of these onion shapes are steering me into a slightly different shape direction than the traditional shapes that are used! I just sketched these tonight.
